2024 marks the twenty-fifth edition of the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival, and the cultural event returns with year with 25 spectacular film screenings.
HKJFF kicks off on 9 November at CineArt JP with a screening of Running on Sand by Adar Shafran, a comedy of errors that sees an Eritrean refugee mistaken for a football club’s star Nigerian striker. Shafran himself will attend the screening to talk about his Israeli Academy Award-nominated film.
Golden Scene Cinema will then screen the rest of the programme until 20 November, including the Mickey Rapkin-directed The Anne Frank Gift Shop; comedy-drama Between the Temples starring Jason Schwartzman, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2024; The Most Precious of Cargoes, directed by the Oscar-winning Michel Hazanavicius; and many more. Non-English-language films will be screened with English subtitles. See the full list of programme here.
