September is shaping up to be an exciting month for the queer community in Hong Kong! As well as Pink Dot, the 35th Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (HKLGFF) is set to be held from 7 to 20 September, with screenings across various theatres in Hong Kong.

HKLGFF will kick off with an opening party at Soho House on 7 September, featuring Rebecca, an overseas drag queen. For the opening screenings, head to Premiere Elements to enjoy either of the opening films, The Time of Huan Nan, a Taiwanese film about love, friendship, and father-son relationships, or The Queen of My Dreams, a dramedy following queer Muslim graduate student Azra and her complicated relationship with her mother.

The festival programme includes a plethora of other LGBTQIA+ films, such as the event’s centrepiece Young Hearts, plus films focused on older queer people like Les Tortues and If I Die, It’ll Be of Joy, as well as a special focus on Asian films, with titles such as My Partner from Hawaii, No Heaven, But Love from Korea, and Naked Nations–Tribe Hong Kong

If you can’t find the time for feature-length films, consider the various short films that HKLGFF will be showing! Many of the films will be gracing the silver screen for the first time in the world or in Asia, so make sure you don’t miss out on this exclusive first look.
