The ASEAN Film Festival 2024 is set to captivate audiences from 5 to 28 September with a remarkable collection of 20 screenings featuring films from Southeast Asian countries. This vibrant festival, hosted by the Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation, highlights the diverse cultures and storytelling traditions of Southeast Asia through free film screenings.

This year’s theme, “Collaboration and Co-Creation,” emphasises the importance of cultural exchange and engagement. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in sessions with filmmakers, directors, and actors, allowing for meaningful insights into the creative process behind each film.

From heartwarming tales to thrilling adventures, the festival features a variety of genres. Highlights include acclaimed films such as Malbatt: Misi Bakara, Malaysia’s highest-budget production, and The Missing, the Philippines’ first animated film submitted for an Oscars nomination. These films not only entertain but also offer a glimpse into the vibrant heritage and contemporary issues faced by the countries represented.

The ASEAN Film Festival 2024 aims to inspire local youth and students by fostering a deeper understanding of ASEAN cultures through cinema. Tickets are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis here.
