The Ap Lei Chau Hung Shing Culture Festival, a traditional Hong Kong festivity, is celebrated around the thirteenth day of the second lunar month, and celebrates the birthday of Hung Shing Kung, a water deity worshipped by boat-dwelling residents of Ap Lei Chau.
The Ap Lei Chau Hung Shing Culture Festival comprises interactive activities, events, and ceremonies performed by residents. Visitors can witness traditional rituals such as the blessing of water lanterns and dragon boats, enjoy a festive parade, and attend Cantonese opera performances. At the heart of the festivities, from 20 to 24 March, there’s also a marketplace offering traditional snacks, carnival games, handicraft workshops, and more.
Covering the hottest new eats, the best places to play, offbeat takes on local culture, and so much more, Localiiz is every Hongkonger’s destination for how to live a well-rounded life in our vibrant city. Why the strange spelling? Well, Localiiz is designed to be your “local eyes”—and for that, you need two i’s.
