Supported by the Mega Arts and Cultural Events Fund under the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Bureau, Art021 Group from Shanghai is debuting the first-ever Art021 Hong Kong Contemporary Art Fair (Art021 Hong Kong) this August.
With a focus on innovation, Art021 Group is changing the art fair model one event at a time. By mixing the traditional fair system with an environment closer to that of an exhibition, the Art021 Group hopes to lessen the burden upon galleries and individual collectors.
The fair’s innovation shines in the upcoming Hong Kong edition through the collaboration with five iconic venues across Hong Kong. The Galleries section will be held from 29 August to 1 September at Phillips’s Asia headquarters in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Concurrently, the Videos section will be hosted in the Asia Society Hong Kong Center in Admiralty. The four-day Expansion section, co-organised with the iconic Fringe Club, consists of various programmes including special exhibitions, live performances, forums, and other activities.
Although the fair remains exclusive with an invitation-only policy for its first year, and extending beyond the already dynamic itinerary above, Art021 Hong Kong will stage a series of art events available to the general public. The Sculptures section is public, and will be showcased at Victoria Park and Fringe Club for 12 consecutive days from 28 August to 8 September.
The final piece in this extensive art fair is the Greater Bay Area Art Week, a platform to connects galleries, art museums, and institutions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, bringing together influential persons to join forces and promote the visibility of the region’s art community.
