Beyond Environmental Arts Festival (BEA Festival) is returning for its third edition from 28 June to 2 August. Under the theme “Climate Change, Change Begins With Me,” BEA Festival hopes to further raise awareness about our world’s inadequate response to the threats of climate change, as we have all started to see its effects over the past years, with more and more extreme weather episodes happening in the world and in Hong Kong.
BEA Festival offers plenty of fun and original ways to talk and learn about climate change, how to reduce our carbon footprint, and introduces young generations to the world that awaits. The highlight of this year’s edition is the “Voices of Change” open-air music and films sessions, on show at Café 23 in Central on 28 June, and at the BEA Tower in Kwun Tong on 6 July. It includes the projection of short films and live music performed by local youth bands. Other activities include theatrical performances, five creative workshops ranging from clay coral magnet-making to “Be the Change” badge-making workshops, and a large-scale art exhibition on display at the BEA Tower from 1 July till 2 August.
All activities at the festival are free to join! A $50 deposit is required to register in advance, although it is refundable in full. All events are suitable for children aged 10 years and above and adults, with some sessions reserved for students. Make sure to check out the programme and get your tickets here.
Born and raised in the French countryside, Lily arrived in Hong Kong looking for an adventure. Passionate about books, she spent some time in Parisian publishing houses and is the author of an illustrated book about hair. Life in Hong Kong for her entails looking for seaside places to eat and a lot of hiking.
