Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT) presents its winter programme in “Absolute Blue,” the first-ever comprehensive show of Japanese natural indigo works by the craft collective Buaisou. The exhibition celebrates the beauty of blue through Buaisou’s immersive installations.
As Japan’s largest producer of traditional indigo dye, Buaisou employs traditional fermentation methods for its natural indigo dyes while pushing the boundary of indigo craft beyond the realms of textiles to furniture. This innovative use of traditional craft allows Buaisou to thrive in the contemporary world with new audiences and collaborative opportunities.
Alongside Buaisou’s innovative installations, CHAT will also be presenting “Seed to Textile” and “Patternways: Visualising Hong Kong in Transition” at its space well into 2023. Head to CHAT this winter for an immersive experience of the traditional and the new!
