To celebrate its 117th anniversary and new record as the world’s largest double-decker tram fleet in service, Hong Kong Tramways—affectionately known as the Ding Ding—has partnered with Leica Camera for the first time to curate a special photography exhibition at the Leica Store Hong Kong Causeway Bay. Titled “recorDING Every Moment,” the exhibition celebrates the historical and cultural significance of the beloved transportation in images captured through the Leica lens of three local photographers.
Bringing together local photographers Hiuman Lam, Colin Lau, and Edas Wong, “recorDING Every Moment” showcases 15 images that capture proud moments aboard the beloved Ding Ding as well as precious tram-making-of scenes inside the Whitty Street Tram Depot. Through different perspectives, they document not just the exquisite craftsmanship of the tramcars but also the warm sentiments that have made the Ding Ding an indelible part of the cityscape and of Hong Kong people’s lives for 117 years.
