Lelo, the leading sexual wellness brand recognized for their innovative, award-winning designs is proud to announce its “Celebrate Joy” campaign this autumn in Hong Kong.
From culture, education, art, to porn—female pleasure has been silenced from the cultural narrative for centuries. Female artists, writers, poets are rarely represented on the topic of female pleasure, leaving the conversation open to a single form of aesthetic: an unrealistic, highly pornified version of reality. This antiquated sexual narrative dictates that women are objects of desire, but their desire should not be seen, heard, or fulfilled. In hopes to ignite the conversation of female pleasure in its “Celebrate Joy” campaign, Lelo will be hosting an art contest for its upcoming art book and partnering with Current Projects and local artist Claudia Chanho to commission a mural on Sai Street!
In collaboration with local artist, Claudia Chanhoi, Lelo has commissioned a mural situated on Sai Street in the creative enclave of Sheung Wan. Chanhoi’s interpretation of female pleasure will be in the spotlight, featuring scenes of blooming flowers, intertwining florals, fanciful fruits, and a celebration of the female form in her subtlety.
Aiming to open a conversation of the significance of female desire through the means of art, “Celebrate Joy” is calling all female artists for submissions for Lelo’s upcoming pleasure art book. Whether it’s photographs, artwork, poems, stories, or graffiti—the medium is irrelevant so long as the topic is female pleasure. Submit your artwork by 15 October 2021 and the brand’s artistic panel of judges will review the submissions. Winning submissions will be published as part of an art book launching May 2022 under the title, CONTENT BLOCKED. Join Lelo in creating an ode to pleasure to empower and embolden the expression of female desire; the conversation has only just begun.
