Don't fear the monsters under your bed. Young Soy Gallery introduces a close brush with the creepies with “Monsters and Makers,” an exhibition featuring Benson Koo, Mooncasket, and Tyler Jackson Pritchard.
Investigating the all-encompassing themes of life, death, good and evil—heavenly heroes and vicious villains—these artists explore ancient and contemporary conceptions of familiar antagonist figures through a unique light. Koo’s haunting monochromatic works show eerie dynamism that shows creatures looking as if they will almost crawl off the page. On the flipside, explore the soft adorable underbelly presented by the affectionate perceptions from Mooncasket. Pritchard’s holy figures make us question the human practice of putting beings on a pedestal.
