De Sarthe Gallery has just wrapped up its annual artist residency, which local artist Eugene Lun, an emerging star of the Hong Kong art scene, was a part of. Presenting augmented-reality-infused etching prints and paintings, “The Forbidden Happiness” is unlike any other exhibitions you have visited before.
Featuring Lun’s signature sausage character, 腸腸 (cheong1 cheong4), this new series of artworks depict playful environments where the character is often situated. The narratives in Lun’s works are engaging and philosophical. Conformity is the main message conveyed by these prints and paintings and 腸腸 is a non-conformist for chasing the forbidden happiness in his society.
