To celebrate Earth Day and raise awareness of climate change and its impact on coastlands, Eaton HK is partnering with National Geographic Explorers to present youth-engaging art, film, and sound. On 21 April, “explorers”—read scientists, researchers, and creatives funded by National Geographic to protect our world in meaningful ways—will be present at Eaton HK to host “Constellations.”
The highlight of the event is the much-anticipated screening of the 2021 documentary Bigger Than Us. Nominated for a César in France (the country’s national and most prestigious film award), it was produced by Flore Vasseur and actress Marion Cotillard. It follows the story of 18-year-old climate activist Melati Wijsen, who has been prolifically fighting against plastic and ocean pollution amongst other things, first in her home country Indonesia, and then the world.
The afternoon-long programme also comprises a panel discussion on culture and the environment, a live DJ set of field recordings and island songs, and the launch of the “Island Constellations” photography exhibition that will run until 15 May.
