Freespace Noise Fest

West Kowloon Cultural District’s upcoming Freespace Noise Fest is unlike most music festivals, offering visitors the opportunity to engage with an exploration of sound and sonic experimentations through performances, workshops, and talks. Organised in celebration of Freespace’s fifth anniversary, the festival will run from 24 July until 6 August.

Spanning two weeks, over 30 international artists will perform and cover various genres, from improvised music to harsh noise, ambient sound, and even live coding. To get a better idea of what to expect, here are a few of the artists in the lineup: Yuko Araki is a multi-instrumentalist who creates abstract and dissonant sounds of the industrial genre; Ken Ueno works with breath sounds such as throat or circular singing; and Vica Pacheco creates melodies using ceramic instruments.
