May in Hong Kong means the French May Arts Festival is back! French May has been around since 1993 and has become a cultural landmark, with hundreds of events on the programme happening over the course of a few months. The event takes place across many cultural venues in the city, from museums and theatres to cinemas, concert halls, art galleries, malls, city hall, and even the Happy Valley Racecourse for special editions of the Wednesday night races!
This year’s stunning lineup includes an acrobatics show called Möbius in May at Tai Kwun, a flute and piano classical music concert called Beautiful Harmony on show at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre, a dynamic breakdance symphonic called Symphony of New Worlds at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, a photography exhibition at M+ in collaboration with the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, a theatre production of Roméo et Juliette, and so much more. Find out more here.
Running alongside the cultural leg of the festival is the French GourMay food and wine festival. Over 150 restaurants in Hong Kong and Macau are taking part to offer special menus, wine pairings, exciting discounts, and more. All participating restaurants and exclusive offers can be found here.
Born and raised in the French countryside, Lily arrived in Hong Kong looking for an adventure. Passionate about books, she spent some time in Parisian publishing houses and is the author of an illustrated book about hair. Life in Hong Kong for her entails looking for seaside places to eat and a lot of hiking.
