HK PAX: Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo

Embark on an artistic adventure at the inaugural Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) from 14 to 18 October. This five-day event, organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), aims to establish the city as a hub for international cultural exchange.

From musical theatre and dance to comedy and workshops, HKPAX is set to feature over 100 performances, talks, and events, making it a flagship platform for the performing arts. The expo includes a variety of curated programmes that highlight the best of local and international talent.

Notable collaborations include “1014”–Nanyin x Jazz, a unique musical theatre production that fuses jazz with the classical style of narrative Chinese singing; Time in a Bottle, a theatrical presentation that integrates music and scent in a visually evocative journey, featuring Hong Kong composer Leon Ko alongside Japanese set designer Hiroko Matsuo; and Journey of Discovery, bringing together young musicians from South Africa and Hong Kong. The festival also includes various local performing arts groups, such as the Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and Chung Ying Theatre Company, who will showcase their signature productions.

HKPAX will also feature curated international showcases, including Benched, a contemporary dance show from Denmark’s Uppercut Dance Theatre; LauZone, a cabaret performance by local talents Anna Lo and Rick Lau, combining original music and humour; and Perhaps, Perhaps… Quizas, a routine by Gabriela Muñoz that delves into themes of loneliness and yearning through a clown character.

HKPAX will take place at multiple venues across Hong Kong, with the West Kowloon Cultural District serving as a central hub. Public ticket sales are available here.
