World-famous Nigerian-American jazz trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and his quartet will launch the new Jazz Signatures concert series at the Xiqu Centre on Friday, 26 July

After studying under jazz icons such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Terence Blanchard, Akinmusire was named Trumpeter of the Year by DownBeat magazine in 2020, and is a regular on best-selling jazz music rankings. His acclaimed style fuses multiple genres and sounds with a distinctive trumpet tone. He will be accompanied by Sam Harris on piano, Harish Raghavan on bass, and Justin Brown on drums for his performance at the Xiqu Centre to reprise compositions from Akinmusire’s quartet albums, as well as unreleased music.

It will be Akinmusire’s first performance in Hong Kong.

With this new programme, and after the huge success of last year’s Freespace Jazz Fest, the West Kowloon Cultural District is bringing even more international jazz artists to Hong Kong to delight its audiences. Details about upcoming Jazz Signatures events will be released soon.

The concert will start at 8 pm and has an approximate run time of one hour and 15 minutes. Get your tickets here before they sell out.
