The Paris 2024 Olympics are fast approaching! In view of the event kicking off on 26 July, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will set up Olympics focal sites at designated sports centres in all 18 districts of Hong Kong to broadcast the competitions.

Although the Paris 2024 Olympics officially start on 26 July, the games will only start on 27 July in Hong Kong due to the time difference. The Olympics focal sites will thus only open on 27 July, and will be open from 8 am to 11 pm daily until the Olympic Games end on 12 August. As for the Paralympic Games, information about the broadcast will be announced later.

The launching ceremony of the Olympics focal sites will be held at 5 pm on 26 July at the secondary hall of the Kowloon Park Sports Centre, and the programme will include sharing sessions with Hong Kong athletes, sports demonstrations, and audience participation activities. All interested parties are welcomed, and those who wish to watch the event unfold at home can also watch the live webcast online, via the LCSD Facebook page, and via the LCSD edutainment channel Vis-à-vis +01.

Aside from live broadcasts of the ongoing Olympic Games, the Olympics focal sites will also display exhibition panels to present Hong Kong athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics, so that visitors can get to know the Hong Kong representatives better. If audiences want to learn more, they can also visit the Olympics focal site website, where introduction videos and demonstrations of various sports skills have been uploaded.

To further encourage the sports spirit of this Olympic summer, LCSD will serve as a venue partner to support the JC Fit City—Active 8 Olympic Sports is “Live” Experience. Co-organised by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and the InspiringHK Sports Foundation, participants can try their hand at Olympic sports. For more information, go here.
