It’s fabulous! Pink Dot Hong Kong, the annual LGBTQIA+ celebration, is marking its tenth anniversary this year with more booths, more activities, and more performers under the theme “We Are Fabu10us.”
Pink Dot attendees can expect both corporate booths and info-tainment stalls from local LGBTQIA+-oriented or LGBTQ+-friendly organisations, including Rainbow Church, an initiative hoping to make traditional church infrastructures more open towards its religious and queer devotees, and Pink Talk, where speakers explore topics of sexuality, gender, and identity.
Pink Dot has a varied selection of activities for festival-goers to choose from, namely the newly-added arts and crafts area, which will operate alongside the pets zone, sports zone, and kids zone. Those who are down to party can join the silent disco or mingle at the bar. As usual, the Pink Dot pop-up store will be open for any shoppers eager to get more queer-themed merch and collectibles.
The setlist for this year’s festival has expanded exponentially compared to previous editions, with a line-up of 18 performers in addition to special performance guests! Iconic Hong Kong singer Serrini will be gracing the stage, as well as a plethora of rising stars like Sica, Jaime, Pix3l, Kiri T, Ansonbean, Lagchun, and more.
Several queer-oriented performances with special guests are scheduled, including drag queen groups Queen Collection, Voguing Hong Kong, Hong Kong Gay Men’s Chorus, and LGBTQIA+-friendly The Harmonics Choir. With diversity and inclusivity at the core of Pink Dot values, the festival has also collaborated with City Echo to bring audiences an indie music show, giving buskers a true moment to shine. The event is completely free of charge, so mark your calendars for a fun-filled queer event on 22 September!
