Around the world, sports enthusiasts have been breaking fresh ground with the rise of padel tennis. Padel combines elements from both tennis and squash, and is played on a closed court with a no-string racquet. Although the sport originated in Mexico back in the 1970s, the padel trend is now on a path to becoming the next big thing in sports. Padel took over the Western part of the world first, and it is now making its way to Hong Kong, with the opening of the Padel+ club in Sai Kung—the first (and only) place to play padel in Hong Kong year-round.
Luckily for downtowners, Taikoo Place is hosting the Project After 6: Padel Tour 2024 in Quarry Bay until 19 July, in partnership with Padel+ and Adidas. As part of the initiative, the full-size padel court is open every day (except on public holidays) and is made available to the general public to be booked on an hourly basis; the refundable deposit is $100, which means it’s free to play! Padel equipment, provided by Adidas, can be borrowed on-site next to the court.
Book your slot to enjoy the one-hour experience via the Taikoo Place app, available from the App Store here and Google Play here. This app is usually for office tenants at Taikoo Place, but you can sign in as a visitor and easily make a standard court booking for two to six players. Note that coaches from Padel+ will be present to guide you if you book a session on weekdays in May.
No need to invest in a padel ball and racquet set—you can borrow professional padel gear from Adidas’s brand-new line on-site! Last but not least, if you share your experience on social media and tag #PadelWithTaikooPlace, you can redeem a Padel Tour 2024 laptop sleeve, as long as stocks last.
