Rooftop Republic Academy Spring Programme now open

The first English-based urban farming programme under the Rooftop Republic Academy will commence in April,and is now open for registration!

The Rooftop Republic Academy is a training platform aiming to raise the next generation of urban farmers to meetthe needs of the future, in response to the growing global needs for innovative solutions for a more sustainablefood ecosystem, and equip trainees with the knowledge and skills for them to carve a vocation in the urbanfarming industry.

Rooftop Republic is a social enterprise aiming to achieve a more sustainable food eco-system through urbanfarming. Through urban farm set up, design, management and education, we aim to transform the relationshippeople have with their food in many of the most densely populated cities, including Hong Kong and China.

Since their establishment in 2015, their team has transformed 55,000 square feet of idling urban spaces into 50productive landscapes ranging from urban farms to vertical greens, indoor farming and agritech developments. Theclients and partners they work with include real estate companies, corporates, F&Bs, hotels, schools and individuals.Their clients include Swire Properties, Cathay Pacific, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental,local and international schools and they have been featured in local and worldwide publications including the BBC,The New Yorker, SCMP and Monocle.

Training Dates: 18th April – 6th June 2020 (Total 6 sessions, 48 hours)

• Understand the role and potential of urban farming in Hong Kong.

• Understand the environmental, socio-economic and health benefits brought by urban farming.

• Learn about the basic principles of organic farming and how they can be applied to an urban context like

• Learn basic knowledge and hands on experience to start and manage an urban farm.

• Get inspiration to embark on the urban farming journey!
