Sardines are a cultural symbol in Portugal, where it is an annual tradition to eat grilled sardines at the yearly Santos Populares, a street festival celebrated every June in Lisbon.
You don’t need to travel all the way to Europe this summer to witness this cultural gathering, however, as the Sardine Festival Hong Kong 2024 is coming to Central from 29 August till 1 September! Taking over the AIA Vitality Park at the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, the festival will welcome visitors to sample a range of Portuguese cuisine and drinks. As a beloved Portuguese food, sardines will be at the heart of the show, of course, as well as the chance to sip on port wine and try pastéis de nata, the Portuguese equivalent of egg custard tarts.
The Sardine Festival Hong Kong 2024 will also welcome plenty of live performances and DJs from Lisbon, guaranteeing a fun time! The fado singer Cuca Roseta will perform at the opening. Tickets to the opening night are inclusive of dinner, while on any other day, you’ll get a free glass of wine or beer. Get your tickets here to join in on the fun!
