Summer holidays are here! While synonymous with outdoor activities, there’s also a case to be made for staying indoors and watching a movie—especially when more heat warnings and thunderstorms are on the horizon. The Film Programme Office and the Leisure and Cultural Department Services are presenting the Summer Family Cine Fest 2024 as part of the International Arts Carnival, with family-friendly film screenings happening at the Hong Kong Film Archive, the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Hong Kong Science Museum, the North District Town Hall, and Hong Kong City Hall, from 13 July to 27 August.

From live action to animated films, the selection caters to all. Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light is the animated story of a one-of-a-king boy who glows, and his fun new neighbour. Babe, the famous 1990s live-action film, will be shown at the Film Archive, a nostalgic moment for those who loved the story of Babe the orphan pig and its farm friends.

There are many more films to discover or rewatch, from the enchanting Mavka: The Forest Song to the comedic detective movie New Tales of Franz and a touching ice hockey story in Big Dreams. The dome show screening of 3-2-1 Liftoff! The Space Adventures of Elon the Hamster promises to be quite the viewing experience. You can find the full screening schedule hereTickets are available for purchase on Urbtix here, and are sorted by location. An easier way to find the screening you are looking for is to visit this page first.
