Calling all fashion and history lovers! One of the most comprehensive historical fashion collectors in the world, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, is bringing an exhibition to Hong Kong. “The Adorned Body: French Fashion and Jewellery 1770–1910 from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris” will be on display at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 24 June to 14 October. Visitors will get to see over 300 pieces of men’s and women’s clothings and jewellery, and explore the evolution of fashion and culture during that time. From fluffy dresses to intricate patterns, the items reflect the skills of French craftsmanship.
The exhibition is divided into five sections, inclusive of eighteenth-century court dresses, bell-shaped crinoline dresses from the nineteenth century, and even a dress by the father of haute couture, Charles Frederick Worth. The pieces are accompanied by historical movie excerpts, aiding visitors to imagine what the garments would look like worn. A multi-media dressing room will be set up for you to virtually try on some of the clothes! Get your tickets here.
