Hong Kong is considered a trail runner’s paradise. With its many hills, rocky terrain, and winding mountain trails, exploration is endless for those who like to recharge in the great outdoors, and like to challenge themselves. The North Face 100 Ultra Trail Challenge (TNF 100) and its mantra, “Never Stop Exploring,” are a perfect fit for Hong Kong.

Organised for the first time back in 2013, TNF 100 attracts some of the most dedicated trail runners every year. Taking place from 13 to 15 December, this year’s edition will take participant through new routes, with square one and the finish line both by the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree. Competing in four different races, racers of all backgrounds and experience can join in.

The event’s classic 100-kilometre race will kick off at 10 pm on 13 December. The route tackles Pak Tai To Yan, the Long Shan route, Hok Tau Reservoir, the Ping Fung Sham and Wong Leng ascents, the Pat Sin Leng mountains, ancient villages northeast of Hong Kong, and Tai Mo Shan before leading back to the Lam Tsuen valley, where a few more climbs await at Tai To Yan, before reaching the finish line back at the wishing tree.

For the first time, there is also an option to enter the 100-kilometre race as a relay team of four people. With this new format, The North Face reiterates that trail running isn’t necessarily a solo sport, and that working as a team can help you accomplish incredible things! The 55-kilometre and the 14-kilometre trail runs begin on the Saturday morning, both also tackling the ascent to Pak Tai To Yan.

Registrations are now open. Find out how to sign up here.
