For the third time, Eaton HK is organising the Unheard Sound and Music Festival from 18 to 28 July 2024. The festival is a celebration of sound, an exploration of its subjectivity in life and in music, and music technology.

Festivities will kick off with an oud improv session by Eugene Leung and Adam Neutron on 18 July at Eaton’s music room. The live performance will be followed by a concert by experimental group Mushroom. The group will experiment with didgeridoo, bamboo flutes, percussions, and visual effects, too!

Talks focused on the music industry are also at the centre of Unheard, including “The Story of Streaming” with electronic musician Hirsk and singer-songwriter Cehryl, and “Sounds of the Diaspora” with Belgian musician Bolis Pupul, Australian multidisciplinary artist Rainbow Chan, and Berliner sound artist Eric Wong.

Screenings are also on the programme. We’re excited about the 2020 documentary Sisters with Transistors about the female pioneers of electronic music. Also on show are a selection of deaf films by Hong Kong-based director Anthony Cheung. There are also workshops inviting you to explore themes of jazz, accessibility, electro-ceramic, music from studio to stage, how to build a song, and more.

Most events are free to the public, but you still need to register to join. You can find the full schedule here.
