”Kissmas in Town” at New Town Plaza

Primed for love-pledging and crush confessions, the set design took inspiration from one of London’s most iconic Christmas attractions, as well as a 300-year-old classic landmark: Covent Garden. Taking historical reference of forestière arch structures, the mall rolls out its Christmas decorations with five British film-like lovers’ spots: “Pavilion of Pledge,” where one can find a lip-shaped button, joining hands to go for the anticipated “kiss.” Followed by the button push is the “Tunnel of Lovers’ Bond” being ignited, where the violet light beams extend the dangling mistletoe, rendering a sight of heartfelt romance. Whisper into the “Lovers’ Confession Booth” and stroll on for the Instagrammable flowerbed “Love Flowers” and the selfie-prompting “Lovey-Dovey Teddy”—the festive scene promises Hongkongers an authentic, European holiday without having to fly out.

Aside from having décor in place, New Town Plaza has also paired up with Postmoment to bring to you “The Time-Travelling Mailbox.” Upon making a fixed amount of donations to designated charity groups, couples can print a personalised photo and write a letter and mail it to their future selves. Be it one year or 10 years later, surely the time-travelling memories shall remain sweet and tender.
