5 Upcoming Fashion Trends to Watch Out For in 2019

By Jenny Leung 3 January 2019
As we step into a new year, there are many things to look forward in 2019 – especially in the fashion world. Whether you’re a fashionista looking to keep up with the latest trends, or simply want to add a few statement pieces to your wardrobe, here are some of the most exciting style trends to look forward to.

1. Animal Prints

According to top fashion designers around the world, it’s all about jungle fever this year. We’re talking leopard print coats, snakeskin boots, zebra dresses, and everything in between. For those who like to keep things simple and classy, try sticking to one particular statement-making item or accessory, but if you're readt to take a walk on the wild side, by all means, means go head-to-toe with some full-on animal print. 2. Tie-Dye

Making a big colourful comeback, tie-dye is set to be one of the biggest "back-in-fash" trends of 2019. Striking a nostalgic chord with what once was deemed a cheap DIY arts and crafts project, tie-dye this year has modernised into a more sophisticated, and chic spin on the runway. From casual rainbow-ribbed tie-dye tees, to a mellow monotone blend jumpsuit, this tie dye trend will no doubt add a splash of life to your everyday outfit. 3. Suits

Over the past year, androgynous fashion has slowly but surely gained its stance in the fashion world. Blake Lively donned a series of designer suits from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, and Ralph Lauren on the red carpet during her press tour for her recent film, A Simple Favour. Whether it’s a casual oversized plaid blazer, a classic black and white tux, or a three-piece denim suit, you can feel free to dress it up or down as much as you like, and you’ll still be able to rock your OOTD with next to no effort – so suit up! 4. Bike Shorts

We know, we’re just surprised as you are, but major brands like Fendi, Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Saint Laurent have been fully embracing the bike shorts trend since SS18, and it’s just getting started. It may sound like a cruel joke at first matching skin-tight bike shorts with stiletto heels, but hey, if Kim Kardashian can pull it off, so can we... right? 5. Fringe

The fringe is back. Tap into your inner cowboy/girl as 2019 brings this classic Western style to a whole new level. Think fringed dresses, shoes, trousers, earrings, handbags – the whole lot! We don’t know about you, but we sure do love to add a fun outfit to twirl around in. Born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK, Jenny grew up with the best of both worlds. She loves just about anything to do with music and doesn’t shy away from belting out a tune or two when it comes to karaoke. If she’s not out and about exploring the city and practising her photography skills, she’s probably tucked up in bed with a book or glued to her laptop doing her online shopping.
