Wing nights

Burger Joys

One of the OG wing nights in Hong Kong comes courtesy of Burger Joys. Besides its famous burgers and truffle fries, this home-grown burger chain has become famed for its chicken wings, so much so that the team launched a wings-focused delivery concept, Empire Wings. At Burger Joys, the wing menu is simple, with just three flavours—buffalo, Cajun spice, and crispy garlic—to choose from. Try all three at their popular Thursday wing nights, where you can get chicken wings for just $3 each from 5 pm onwards (available at all Burger Joys locations).

Big Bite

Satisfy your mid-week munchies at this Canadian burger joint—the original Big Bite in North Point offers $3 wings from 6 pm on Tuesdays, while the Shek Tong Tsui branch has the same deal on Wednesdays. Purchase any beer or milkshake to get the discount—we recommend the milkshake if you plan on trying the ultra-spicy “homicide” wings, but those who don’t enjoy racking up the Scoville units will be pleased to know that other flavours (buffalo, honey garlic, and Cajun) are available too.

Binge Drinking Club

Every Wednesday, bargain-hunters flock to this popular Soho hole-in-the-wall to make the most of their $3 chicken wings and $50 pints. The wings come in six flavours—honey garlic, honey sriracha, BBQ, spicy, salt and pepper, and buffalo. Besides wing night, Binge Drinking Club also has a Green Monday promotion where you can get vegan “chicken” nuggets for just $1 each.

Wingman

You know you’re at a specialist restaurant when the shop name is dedicated to one specific foodstuff. Wingman has over 15 flavours of chicken wings to choose from, split into three categories: dry-rubbed, saucy, and special. Diners can enjoy 12 of these flavours as part of the restaurant’s Wednesday promotion (available from 2.30 pm to 10.30 pm), during which you can buy any drink to get a dozen wings for $60 ($5 each). Each portion is split into two flavours, so bring a few pals if you want to maximise the number of flavours you can try! Wingman also offers free-flow wings packages—more on that later.

Southside Lantau

With its casual vibe, authentic Southern grub, and affordable prices, Southside Lantau is one of our favourite restaurants on Lantau Island. Besides their famous giant chicken sandwich (starting from $55), this soul food spot also has a popular $6 wing promotion on Thursdays from 5 pm. There are 13 options to choose from, with many flavours that are hard to find elsewhere in Hong Kong like chimichurri, lemon pepper, jalapeño lime.

Alvy’s

If you take a “more is more” approach to your hot sauce, then you won’t want to miss the monthly wing promotions at Alvy’s. This Kennedy Town spot is best known for its beers and pizzas, but once a month, guests can play-act like they’re on Hot Ones at the $5 hot wing night. The fiery condiments in question vary from month to month and are provided by the good folks at Hong Kong’s very own specialist hot sauce shop, Fiyah, which carries many of the sauces featured on Hot Ones.

Free-flow deals

Coffee Lowa

This homey Hong Kong-style café in Mong Kok’s $88 free-flow deal is available in four sessions—2 pm to 4 pm, 4 pm to 6 pm, 6 pm to 8 pm, and 8 pm to 10 pm—from Mondays to Saturdays. By Coffee Lowa’s count, an average diner eats around 20 to 30 wings each, so the owners prepare and fry over a thousand wings every day, with a preparation process that includes defrosting, cleaning, marinating, and frying. Reward their diligent efforts by choosing from four flavours—salt, garlic, spice, and honey. All wings are made to order, and one person even managed to consume 70 wings in a single sitting! Anyone up for breaking that record?

Food Solution (雙餸王)

This cheap and cheerful canteen is beloved by Wan Chai office workers for its high quality and affordable lunches, where you can have your choice of three dishes for less than $50. If you swing by on Friday between 6 pm and 10 pm, however, you can chow down on as many wings as you want for two hours for the princely sum of $98—but make sure to get only what you can eat, because the Food Solution team charges $10 for every wing you waste. There are four flavours available every week, though the exact options vary—previous flavours include huadiao wine, honey BBQ, satay, and fragrant chilli. Add on $35 for unlimited beer and non-alcoholic drinks.

Fini’s

For American-style buffalo wings, no one does it better than casual Italian-American eatery Fini’s. From 5 pm to 7 pm on Mondays to Fridays (barring public holidays), diners can sate their appetites for unlimited hot wings, fries, and beers at just $109 per person at both of Fini’s locations. Unlike the more common chicken wing flats you find in Hong Kong, the wings at Fini’s are chubby little drumettes, which means you get even more bang for your buck.

Wingman

Besides their Wednesday wing deal, Wingman also offers a two-hour free-flow deal from 12 pm to 10.30 pm from Sundays to Tuesdays. Starting from $128 per person, you can enjoy as many chicken wings as you can handle, including flavours like honey wasabi and salted egg yolk to Mongolian BBQ, espresso BBQ, and Carolina Reaper, made from one of the spiciest chillis in the world. The two more expensive free-flow wings packages include more flavours of wings, as well as free-flow beer and soft drinks. For more alcoholic options, add on $150 to get free-flow wine, spirits, Prosecco, and an extra 30 minutes of eating time.

Paper Street

To our knowledge, Paper Street is the only place you can find free-flow wings and a boxing ring to work it all off in. Drop by this Sheung Wan bar-slash-boxing gym on Tuesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm and purchase two standard drinks to enjoy unlimited wings for $200. Flavour-wise, you have four options: original, Sichuan, buffalo, and Tiger curry. Just remember to give yourself a little time to digest all that before you start sparring!
