Where to Find the Best Salsa Nights in Hong Kong

Summertime, and the living’s easy... As the temperatures in Hong Kong continue to rise, burn off the calories and burn up the dance floor at one of the many salsa nights around town. Got two left feet? That’s okay—bring your mates and dance the night away anyway!

Monday

Rúla Búla

Shake off the Monday blues at Rúla Búla. Hosted by Dance with Style, this is Hong Kong’s longest-running salsa party. Entry is free and includes a Los Angeles-style salsa lesson that involves friendly dancers from all levels. Stick around to party afterwards as DJ Javed takes the deck to spin Latin dance tunes ’til late.

Mazu

Zouk is a partner dance originating from Brazil, whereby dancers dance to a 1-2-3 (or quick-quick-slow) rhythm to more upbeat music. Forbes 36 Sports Bar & Grill

Noche de Salsa is another event hosted by Dance with Style, so if you miss Monday night’s festivities, get down to Forbes 36 Sports Bar & Grill for a second chance at getting your groove on. Interested in more than just salsa? Bachata classes are also held on Tuesday nights, so dancers can switch things up. ⋈ The Artist House ⋈

Unlike most Afro-Latin dances, Kizomba has no basic step to follow and instead places an emphasis on close partner connection and grounded movements. Coach Davis teaches a Kizomba Fusion class at 9pm every Tuesday at hip craft beer bar The Artist House. It’s a guaranteed good time as well as a change of pace.

VOLAR

Hosted by DanceTrinity, Viva La Salsa is another one of Hong Kong’s stalwart salsa nights. Those who have been to Volar will know that space is limited, so get down early to save you and your friends the prime spot for showing off your steps. Kafnu

Across the harbour at the stylish Kerry Hotel is a Cuban Salsa-focused class and party hosted by a local Meetup group of salsa enthusiasts. Bring your own drinks and get settled in for some dirty dancing straight out of Havana Nights. Check the Meetup page for more details.

Salsa Caliente Thursdays return this summer with a class taught by Franky ‘The Salsaman’ Wong at 8pm on the terrace oasis, followed by a salsa set by DJ German Perez on the main floor. Latin percussion band Tropishow will be performing live to really enhance the Latin experience with their congas and timbales.

Friday & Saturday

Picada

Picada keeps the Latin vibes going all weekend with Afro-Latin beats on the terrace and an impromptu dancefloor on the main floor. $38 happy hour drinks are available on Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 10pm to kick your weekend off. Richmond Plaza

Get in the studio to dance your night away at the Afro-Latin Party presented by Simon from Zouk Hong Kong and Yvonne and Iris of the HKizz team. Workshops for different styles begin around 9pm, so keep an eye out on Facebook for more details. Be sure to hit ‘going’ on the event page for $20 off your cover charge!
