It was a hard farewell for many of us when Swindon, the century-old bookstore based in Tsim Sha Tsui, closed its doors in July, but just as one bookstore closes, another one opens. Eslite, the leading Taiwanese bookstore chain, is gracing us with its fourth outpost in Hong Kong! Spanning 6,000 square feet, the latest Eslite opened in Phase III of Olympian City on 23 September 2020.
Carrying over 40,000 titles on their shelves, the bookstore will offer an extensive collection of English and Chinese books, with designated sections for children’s titles, Eslite recommendations, themed book exhibitions, and more. The grand opening next Wednesday will feature exhibitions and classic reads from new and old Hong Kong, with stories of the city’s colourful past spotlighting the works of local writers.
Alongside books, the well-loved Taiwanese brand is also a leisure lifestyle retailer. Like its other branches, the new Eslite in Olympian City will offer a plethora of lifestyle products, ranging from quirky gadgets and stationery to traditional Taiwanese snacks and home décor. Whether you want to lose yourself in a gripping novel or peruse souvenirs and trinkets, residents of Mong Kok, Tai Kok Tsui, and the surrounding areas will have a new go-to destination to spend lazy afternoons in!
