Did you know that, as an English-language speaker, you already know 15,000 French words? All you need is a little bit of Marie Kondo-like reorganisation in your brain and you’re already halfway to mastering French! The Hong Kong Institute of Languages has been teaching seven languages—including English, French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese—to Hong Kong’s families, corporations, and schools for over 34 years. Their proven track record speaks for itself, with successful learning through 100 percent face-to-face teaching in small groups or private lessons with only qualified native speakers.
French programme
The Hong Kong Institute of Languages provides French language courses from beginner to advanced level for children, teenagers and adults. They also operate a subsidiary education business that teaches languages to schools and corporations. Whether you want to learn or improve a second language, prepare for language examinations, meet professional job requirements, or simply enhance your personal life, the Institute can help you achieve your goals with immersive and engaging classes.
For children
The Institute has developed a culturally enriching French language foundation programme for children, taught as an extracurricular activity to support the school term. In this new programme, children are taught basic French, which enhances the learning process by introducing children to the fundamental aspects that make up the French culture. At the end of the course, students will be able to progress to Beginner 2 level, a useful accomplishment that supports children with their applications to elite primary schools that teach French as an optional language class.
For teens and adults
For teens and adults, the Institute offers seven products developed specifically for the needs of language learners. The focus is on encouraging students to efficiently utilise their time and learn the language quickly. These include courses such as Intensive 24, where students learn practical French language skills that can be put to use right away in social and formal settings; Cultural 24, where students can gain a foundation in the French language through connecting to the culture; and Travel 24, where students make the most from their holiday or working trip to French-speaking countries. You never stop learning even when you think you’re done growing up!
Winter camps
The Winter Camp curriculum is designed to be a beneficial and engaging language programme available in French, German, Spanish and Mandarin for children aged four to 12. Children will become familiar with the key aspects of each country’s culture through language-based fun and educational learning activities. Holidays are a great time for children to be exposed to a new language and the course content is comprehensive enough to include country-specific festivals, cuisine, famous places, art, literature, and family tree.
Classes are taught in small groups, with the curriculum
delivered by qualified native teachers. To keep the kids involved and interested, each programme comprises of eight lessons, each lasting one and a half hours. Children have a choice of half-day morning or full-day curriculums, with the
full-day programme running from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Children who complete the Winter Camp programme will have an academic advantage should they wish to enter the Beginner 1 programme on completion of the Winter Camp course. The Winter Camp takes place at HKIL’s Central campus from Monday to Friday, December 23, 2019, until January 3, 2020. For more information please contact HKIL’s course consultants with details below.
