Hong Kong is a renowned concrete jungle, but people seem to forget that half the city is actually covered in greenery, too. New Territories, in particular, has a lot of farms and eco-parks that not many people know about, but they are great destinations for a day trip to soak up Hong Kong’s natural beauties and the whimsical pastime of fruit-picking. That’s right—you can pick your own fruits in Hong Kong and you’ll get hauls that are not just strawberries, either!
Shine Muscat grapes are a delicacy from Japan, but did you know that you can find them growing in Hong Kong as well? Long Ping Strawberry Grape Farm specialises in growing Japanese grapes, using modern techniques to retain their sweetness and fragrance.
Depending on different seasons, the farm offers either Kyoho grapes, black currant, or Muscat grapes across the 200,000-square-feet vineyard that they put together. As their name suggests, strawberries are also available, as well as sugar canes to keep your sugar levels high while you’re out in the fields.
