Lunar New Year is approaching, and you bet restaurants in Hong Kong are going to bring out their A-game for the Year of the Rabbit. From delicious banquets for you to share with your family to speciality lunch and dinner buffets, here is our list of the best Chinese New Year menus in Hong Kong for this festive season.

Yong Fu

One-Michelin-starred Yong Fu Hong Kong is the city’s go-to restaurant for authentic Ningbo cuisine. Serving up a series of Lunar New Year meals this January, your gathering will be well-taken care of with the year-end 10-course Ningbo banquet menu for 10 people, available from 6 to 21 January, featuring a selection of traditional Ningbo dishes transformed with premium ingredients, innovation, and modern techniques.

The Astor is bringing an exciting international buffet to the table this Lunar New Year. Duddell’s is serving up authentic Cantonese cuisine this January to ring in the Year of the Rabbit. The CNY dim sum lunch selection includes all of your favourite tapas as well as Duddell’s house-crafted festive puddings. Seven new à la carte dishes have been added to the menu to represent the essence of Cantonese fine-dining delicacies. If you want to have a rounded experience at your CNY feast, opt in for one of Duddell’s tasting menus— choose from six- or eight-course for your designated menu. Enjoy a series of mouth-watering delights, from deep-friend shrimp paste puff to braised pork knuckles.

If you want to take your feasting home, try out Duddell’s CNY poon choi. The traditional casserole dish includes abalone, oysters, sea cucumbers, and a plethora of premium ingredients. If you were not a fan of poon choi before, Duddell’s might change your mind.

Ho Lee Fook

Ho Lee Fook is introducing a modern 10-course menu featuring innovative Cantonese staples. From appetising snacks, authentic Cantonese siu mei, a fusion lo hei lo mein, and a delicious housemade XO sauce egg fried rice to adorable almond mahjong biscuits, Ho Lee Fook is the perfect place for you and your family to get together. Rosewood Hong Kong

At the Rosewood Hong Kong this CNY, their specialist in Cantonese cuisine is indulging in the festivities with a series of seasonal menus. The Chinese New Year Delights menus are available for lunch and dinner between 14 January and 5 February, featuring braised Chinese cabbage roll with chestnut and Parma ham, braised rice with abalone and diced chicken, and more. Don’t forget to save space for the chilled taro pudding.

For at-home dining, The Legacy House has exclusive pick-up specials for patrons. The prosperity poon choi is an elegant version of the traditional dish, and the fu gui chicken symbolises wealth and good fortune, making it suitable for any CNY celebration.

Meanwhile, Holt’s Café offers a Chinese New Year brunch menu on 22 January, plus the Taste of Traditional Canton Chinese New Year set lunch from 23 until 27 January.

Jiangsu Club

Jiangsu Club is the go-to restaurant for authentic Su cuisine, one of the eight culinary treasures of China. For Lunar New Year, try the Jiangsu prosperity pot, a luxurious conception of the traditional home-style dish. For a heart-warming get-together with family and friends, the Fortune Feast and the Prosperity Feast menus are perfect for the occasion. Of note are the silver pomfret fillet cooked in Jiangsu style with 10-year-old yellow wine and the soup of morel with fish maw and conch.

A little odd on this list of traditional foods for CNY, Shake Shack’s festive offering is no less impressive. Introducing the hot honey menu, featuring a special spin on Shake Shack’s classic Chicken Shack, the hot honey chicken sandwich with honey-glazed crispy chicken and Shake Shack’s cabbage and green apple slaw to taste on a potato bun. Pair this twist on a classic with the limited-time hot honey chicken bites that are sure to wow you.
