Looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city with your pet? Western New Territories has lots of dog-friendly restaurants for you to uncover, and we’ve highlighted our favourites!
Asok Thai Noodle is a popular restaurant in Yuen Long and their main draw is their rich and flavourful broth, slow-cooked for twelve hours with beef bone before being served up with noodles and your choice of beef, pork, chicken, or deep-fried pig skin.
Portions here are generous and hearty, and prices are wallet-friendly, depending on your meat of choice. Although a small establishment, there is one table out front which allows you to “dine in” with your pet accompanying you.

Choi Lung Restaurant is a great destination for a spot of dim sum after hiking in the Tai Mo Shan area. Parking is available for $50, which is then deducted from your final bill when dining at Choi Lung, and outdoor seating is available if you are visiting with dogs.
Don’t expect Michelin Star service and décor—although the staff can be friendly enough, it’s pretty much self-service all around, as you are required to pick out your own dishes from what’s displayed. On the plus side, the food is fresh, authentic, and ridiculously affordable! Sitting down for some yum cha here is a no brainer if you’re in the area.

Chow Chow Café takes a local approach to Western food. Children can enjoy items from the kids’ menu for $58, which also doubles up as a colouring mat featuring the pet-friendly restaurant’s resident Chow Chow. For the adults, they offer set menus, from burgers, afternoon tea, and a special summer lunch set menu to a variety of dishes ranging between $88 and $108. We recommend upgrading your drink to the fruit punch for an additional $8 to enjoy a really refreshing treat on a hot summer’s day.

You would never expect to find a third-wave coffee shop in the middle of a rural village, but that is exactly what makes Count.down so special. Best of all, it’s pet-friendly! In a brightly painted bungalow, with a beautifully decorated interior and a bookshelf adorning one wall from floor to ceiling, this serene space provides a great setting for a quiet afternoon out. Sit outside in the sun with your pup in tow and a good book, and a enjoy their light bites while you sip on a coffee.

Hola is a great spot to grab a bite to relax with family, friends, and pets, whilst you tuck into all of your favourite comfort foods. Whether you’re after an all-day breakfast, a big juicy burger topped with fries, or something covered in ooey gooey cheese, Hola has it on the menu. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, you can opt for their stack of French toast, where you can choose from the Glamazonian Toast ($128) or Chocolate Extravaganza ($188). Pups are welcome to sit inside with you, if you wish to escape the heat.

Innolife is not just a florist, although it’s located in the middle of a vegetable farm! Coming to Innolife is all about being out in the countryside and enjoying nature, and their space is a great destination, as you can relax alone or with their resident dog, named Charcoal.
Not only are you welcome to walk around their garden to appreciate the many beautiful plants and succulents, but you can also sit on their patio to enjoy some drinks and food, ranging from rice and pasta dishes to roast beef sandwiches and jacket potatoes with your choice of topping. Innolife occasionally hosts events and workshops, so be sure to check their website or Facebook page for updates.

Another Western restaurant that that has benefitted from local touch is Joy Food Lounge. Its inspired décor gives off a slight Mediterranean vibe, with a lovely outdoor area for pet owners to sit and enjoy their meal with their fur-babies. The menu is mostly international, with items such as a beef Wellington ($288), a deep-fried platter with shrimp tempura & dumplings ($148), and a supersized all-day breakfast ($148) that’s fit for two.

Ruff Ruff Site is a dog-friendly events space out in the sleepy village of Kam Tin, offering professional grooming, a paddling pool for dogs, and a coffee shop for some light refreshments. Humans can enjoy an all-day breakfast and coffee beverages whilst pups can enjoy items off the dog menu, including a Puppicino, and a mini sirloin steak burger, and dog fries, made using pet-safe ingredients, such as pumpkin, potato, lactose-free milk, and Japanese eggs. Some of the items on the dog menu have limited availability on the weekend, so be sure to ring ahead to reserve!

Thai Market covers 20,000 square feet, comprising of both indoor and outdoor space. The venue is bedecked in neon and fairy lights, with a tuk tuk parked out front to resemble a (surprise, surprise) Thai market. The menu offers all of your Thai favourites such as pad thai with shrimp ($98), barbecued skewers and appetisers, but it’s the seafood that most people go for! If you have space for dessert afterwards, be sure to head up to their dessert counter and choose a mix of your favourite Thai desserts, such as mango sticky rice, and Thai coconut corn & sago pudding.

Tong’s Road House Seafood & Grill reminds us of a roadside pub in the UK, and is even equipped with a super-sized children’s playground out back, making it great for family gatherings. Outdoor seating is available for guests attending with fur-babies, and you can enjoy fresh seafood and steak from around the globe on their international menu. You can also expect to find pasta and pizza on the menu, and even some gumbo and jambalaya, if you’re looking for something with a touch of Creole spice.
