Rugby fans are in for a treat at the upcoming Hong Kong Sevens 2024. As the latest edition of the world-famous rugby tournament, the Hong Kong Sevens are set to take place within the historic Hong Kong Stadium, and organisers are ramping up the excitement with thrilling matches and top-tier entertainment on the programme. Whether you are a hardcore supporter or just showing up to soak up the vibes, the three-day event is a guaranteed good time. Here’s what to expect.
Taking place from 5 to 7 April, the Hong Kong Sevens kicks off early on Friday morning with youth and mini teams taking to the pitch, followed by the main event—competing international teams coming from 12 different countries, including Australia, Fiji, the UK, Japan, and France, among others.
For local supporters, the Hong Kong China teams will play against the mainland China teams on Friday night, with entertainment in between their exciting matches! After a weekend of fun, the Hong Kong Sevens ends on Sunday evening with the winners’ cup presentation. Click here to see the event schedule.
Match-goers can also enjoy a variety of local and international entertainment at the Hong Kong Sevens. On 5 April, the opening ceremony comprises performances by home-grown singer and America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Celine Tam, while local Cantopop group Lolly Talk and former rugby star DJ James Haskell will keep audiences on their toes. Reggae legends The Wailers will take to the stage on Saturday afternoon, while Arnel Pineda of rock band Journey will wrap up the tournament on Sunday with classics such as Don’t Stop Believin’.
