Jaw-Dropping Video Shows Hong Kong is PARADISE!

By Sophie Pettit 5 March 2018
It's been a while since we've featured a drone video reminding us how fabulous our city is, so you can imagine our excitement at receiving this epic masterpiece from 31-year-old Jack Shirley, which literally made our jaws drop! We've pretty much run out of adjectives to describe just how breathtaking, stunning, and beautiful this clip is, and if we didn't know any better, we'd think it was shot in paradise!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FnbRmBxbj0&feature=youtu.be Crashing waves, golden, sandy beaches, and the most gorgeous shades of blues and greens you'll ever see in Hong Kong fill the screen in a series of sweeping landscape shots captured by Jack's DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone. Aptly named Who Knew Hong Kong Looked Like This?, the video is a brilliant reminder of how much natural beauty lies on our doorstep – and at times got us questioning, "Wait, this isn't shot in the Philippines?". Turns out Jack was just as surprised too.

"When I moved from London to Hong Kong three years ago I assumed it was going to be 'just another concrete jungle'", the talented film maker and English teacher tells Localiiz. "How wrong was I? Before I came here, I had no idea that Hong Kong even had a countryside, so I made this video to show my friends back home that there's a whole other side to the city – and it's absolutely beautiful!" Driven by his admiration for the city he intends to make his forever home, Jack set out with his drone to film one location every week for about a year, culminating in this fantastic video which earns a well-deserved spot in our 'favourites' list. And it couldn't have come at a better time – with the long Chinese New Year weekend ahead of us, now is the perfect time to get outside and explore.
