Everyone must already be familiar with global brand TONI&GUY, but of all their branches in Hong Kong, Essensuals by TONI&GUY is the one place where you can get more playful looks. Described as an “art hair salon,” you can find them in the heart of Central where their stylists pair up high fashion with hair. Glow Spa is staffed with everything you need for a real glow-up. From stylists and aestheticians to beauty therapists, there’s almost nothing you can’t do here. Their team will work together with you to find the best style fit, and you can either schedule all of your treatments into a day spa trip or just pop by for a blowdry before a dinner gathering. They also have super aesthetic interiors showcasing blue and yellow tones that will look great for a selfie backdrop and make any colour on your hair pop!

Hair Duo is a shop that’s close to our hearts because it’s where we go to get our colours done! You can check out the store’s main Instagram page for their works, or even check out their individual stylists’ colourful pages for more inspiration. We usually plan our colours ahead, which means we sit down for a consultation with the colour kings and queens to talk about our current hair condition, what colours can we play with, and what colours we would like to sport for the next three months so that the hair dye can lay down the foundations for the next colour, too!

Japanese hair aesthetics would mean the airy, fluffy look that is always an ongoing trend, using mini perms to make your hair bouncy and “babylights” for some fun in between!
Hong Kong’s hair salon group Il Colpo is a celebrity on its own due to the patronage of local superstars that many of you will know, including the likes of Tony Leung, Miriam Yeung, Donnie Yen, Karen Lam, and more. The team is always ready for any cut or colour, and they love creating luscious chocolate brunettes, flaming coppery redheads, dreamy pastels, or any colour that will satisfy your heart desires. A Full Tint ($1,400) for long hair can take several hours, so if your stomach is feeling a bit lonely, they also serve delicious coffee and cocktails during your treatments!

Their shops all share the aesthetic interior design vision that has garnered them several awards, so when you pair that with their superb skills with hair, you’re guaranteed to be in for a rewarding time. They also offer exclusive VIP rooms ($250 per hour) that you can book for a maximum of three hours in order for you to thoroughly relax or have a nice bonding session with friends and family.
Hair Corner has been working their hair magic in Hong Kong for over 30 years, building up a famed reputation for their styling services as well as their wellness expertise on hair transplants, hair spas, and hair health consultation. They are often invited to showcases abroad, such as Japan’s popular Beauty Expo, so it goes without saying that they are true masters of their craft. They have three branches in Hong Kong, with the newest addition inside the picturesque K11 MUSEA.
Aesthetic shop entrances are just as important for hair salons as they are for restaurants. We came across M Plus Salon when we were window-shopping in Lee Gardens and boy, were we captivated. The salon is frequented by many of Hong Kong’s local celebrities such as Miriam Yueng and Pakho Chau for their creative colour work and detailed styling and accordingly, their prices for treatments and cuts are a little steeper as well.

Last by not least, we have Sozo Hair Design in Central, a Japanese hair salon where you can create your own hairstyling menu. From regular cuts to extensions, all you have to do is ask and ye shall receive. The thing we admire most, however, is their hair donation program. Sozo Hair Design accepts hair that is at least 31 centimetres in length and in healthy condition, and collections are sent off to create wigs for Japanese children with cancer. What could be better than upcycling your discarded snippings?

Having lived in Hong Kong, Beijing, and London sure is a fun fact whenever people try to guess Ching’s accent.
