The cold of winter has finally come to Hong Kong, bringing wind and lower temperatures to our city. Even if you’ve vowed to stay indoors all week, with temperatures dropping as low as eight degrees, there is no escaping the cold—especially since most Hong Kong buildings do not have central heating. But that doesn’t mean you have to listen to your teeth chattering all day long. Luckily, the following shops in Hong Kong sell trusty space heaters that will keep you nice and toasty, especially for those draughty offices and bedrooms.
As one of Hong Kong’s largest consumer electronics destinations, Fortress is a safe bet when it comes to space heaters, electric heaters, and portable heaters of all shapes and sizes. With over 80 brick-and-mortar outlets across Hong Kong and Macau, this is your one-stop-shop for all of the latest high-quality home appliances you need. Fortress offers an online shop, but the in-store staff is well-equipped to assist with recommendations and help you compare models, functions, and prices.
From small and affordable tabletop units like the ceramic heater ($299) from Hyundai to classic radiator designs like Delonghi’s radiator ($1,898), there is a space heater to suit all kinds of spaces. More upscale tower models like the award-winning ceramic heater ($998) from Midea come with a little more fanfare, with features like intelligent temperature control and energy-saving technology, cold and warm settings, a 24-hour programmed timer, overheat protection, and remote control.
Fortress also offers a limited-time warranty for products that cost $200 up, which covers repair services by the manufacturer or authorised repairers, among other services.
Japan Home Centre is the place to go for affordable household products. From cleaning materials, plates, cups, and storage containers to blankets and pillows—whatever you need, they’ve got it. Come wintertime, they also stock cheap and cheerful space heaters that’ll do the job.
While the options here aren’t plentiful, the products available will get you by if you’re strapped for cash. Japan Home Centre recently launched an online shopping platform so you can browse for goods from the convenience of your home, or you can head to one of their whopping 270 outlets dotted around Hong Kong and Macau. It’s easy to find a shop near your place for a space heater that suits your needs without having to break the bank. From Matsusho’s mini heater ($139) to Cellini’s ceramic tower heater ($518), there’s something here for every budget.
HKTVmall is basically the eBay of Hong Kong, except it also has physical locations. Founded by Hong Kong Television Network Limited, this Hong Kong-based e-commerce company offers the ultimate online shopping experience for lifestyle items available across the city.
As the largest 24-hour online shopping mall in Hong Kong, it aims to be a one-stop-shop platform for everyone. You can browse through their selection on their website and on their dedicated mobile app, available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Models range from small wall-plug units to ceramic tower heaters and full-size radiators on their online shop, and this ceramic heater ($698) from Whirlpool offers two levels of heat selection, an auto-swing rotating feature, overheating protection, and more. You can order your space heater online or through the app and pick up at a brick-and-mortar HKTV outlet.
Broadway is one of Hong Kong’s largest retail chains for electronics and electrical appliances, offering computerised ordering services, 10-day replacement guarantee, prompt delivery, product warranty, and much more. Prices for space heaters on their online shop range between $318 and $3,880, with one of the more popular models being the Dyson AM09 fan heater ($3,880), which has strong heating and cooling power (we like us a unit that pulls double duty!). It also features a new jet-flow control system and comes with a 24-month warranty.
ParknShop is a leading supermarket with over 340 stores in Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China, and is well known for providing quality products. Its online shopping platform only offers the Innotec Miami tower ceramic heater ($628), which boasts an advanced ceramic heating technology, an LCD display with electronic control, timer control from half an hour up to a whole day, 90-degree oscillation, and plenty of other impressive features. Head to some of the physical locations for a wider variety of space heaters.
