Selling products ranging from home accessories to fashion and beauty, The Slow Mode’s curated selection of unique items are handpicked with thoughtful details and “slowly” made with purpose, precision, and meaning. This Hong Kong-based brand aims to create a niche community where people can come together and share wellness stories and guides. You can shop for earrings, studs, necklaces, pendants, and bracelets and their style mostly incorporates beads, freshwater pearls, or precious stones with brass covered in 18-karat gold plating. The Slow Mode’s jewellery pieces are rather subtle with a pop of spring colours.
If you’ve watched Blood Diamond—you know, the Leonardo DiCaprio one—you get a glimpse into how cruel a world diamond mining can be. Such mining operations are a blow to the environment, as the excavated area is usually left with no further use afterwards, and a lot of dangerous manual labour goes into mining these precious gems.
Good thing then, that The Diamond Library provides ethical lab-grown alternatives, and they also donate one percent of their proceeds to She’s the First, a non-profit organisation devoted to providing educational opportunities for girls from low-income families. If you are looking for a meaningful place to pick out engagement or wedding rings, this place is it—and there are options for you to have them custom-made, too. Aside from that, you can also shop for chokers, bracelets, and earrings.
The Diamond Library, Shop G23, G/F, Mira Place, 132–134 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui | (+852) 6019 3155

Founded by local gal Ishita Desai, one of Aanya’s main ethos is to empower women. Rural, tribal women in India have been marginalised in Indian society for centuries, and through employment opportunities, fair practices, and skill training, they are bridging the gap between empowerment and consumerism. Although Aanya focuses primarily on bohemian clothing, their distinctive range of ethically sourced and sustainably created accessories should not go unnoticed. Here, the designs are intricate, and the cherry on top is that their pieces are all limited in numbers and sourced from India. While you can browse Aanya’s jewellery pieces online, they actually stock more pieces in their Central boutique. Keep an eye out for their necklaces, which are the epitome of minimalistic—you can pair them with practically anything!
