Okay, a space to park your car is hardly the most exciting feature a property can have, but functionality should always be your first thought when looking to rent somewhere, and car parking's a specially horrendous issue in Hong Kong. A cursory search of the issue will have you reading in horror at some of the prices people have to pay simply for the pleasure of leaving something somewhere. Obviously, this isn't the case everywhere, living on one of the outlying islands affords a degree of space not readily available on Hong Kong Island so we'll be focusing there specifically. So, got a car and need somewhere to live on the island? Read on.

72 Macdonnell Road, Mid Levels
- $36,500 per month
- 809 sq ft
- 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, recently renovated, and one car park space
What's this madness? A relatively nice flat in Mid Levels with parking that isn't ludicrously expensive. That's right. It's a thing. Okay, it's still not what you would consider cheap for a one-bedroom place. But, it's a very spacious one bedroom with all the mod cons and new fittings, and in a really nice area. Good enough for us.

51 Paterson Street, Causeway Bay
- $88,000 per month
- 2,500 sq ft
- 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, open plan, balcony, car park
Causeway Bay is one of the most populous areas in the city, nay, the world. So, finding an apartment with this much space and a parking space is gold dust. It's a lovely big space that's suitable for families or someone that's super rich and likes having lots of rooms for activities and such.

55 Blue Pool Road, Happy Valley
- $100,000 per month
- 2,200 sq ft
- 4 bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms), open kitchen and dining area, car park
Okay, so we're starting to get down to some serious business now, price-wise, but we want to make sure you get plenty of bang for your many, many bucks, and in that sense, this behemoth property in Happy Valley delivers in spades. The decor is quite lovely and having an en-suite in every bedroom is the absolute icing on the cake.

39 Kennedy Road, Wan Chai
- $45,000 per month
- 983 sq ft
- 3 bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms), maid's room, rooftop, car park
Bringing us back down to reality after the Happy Valley property is this relatively affordable apartment (for what you're getting). You're in one of the few quiet areas of Wan Chai while still being close to all the action. And, like the last place, having an en-suite for every room is a god send. Plus, rooftop. Boom.

Big Wave Bay Road, Shek O
- $600,000 per month
- 6,605 sq ft
- 5 bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms), 5.5 bathrooms (I don't know what that means, someone help me out?), private garden, 2 terraces, family room, study, utility room, private pool, sea views, 2 covered parking spaces
Let's finish on something absolutely mental shall we? This falls very much into the categories of dream home, lottery win, or successful bank heist. The features are myriad, bountiful, and stunning. The bullet-point list here is a mockery of how ridiculously nice this place is. Just go look at the listing and cry.
