Hong Kong’s dining scene, ever-evolving and innovative, rises to new heights every year. Over time, establishments have bid us farewell, some have adapted to meet the changing culinary landscape’s expectations, while new players frequently join the scene. Awarding the pinnacle of culinary talent with the highest recognition in the field, the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau has just announced its full 2024 selection, highlighting a total of 79 starred restaurants in Hong Kong and 16 starred restaurants in Macau.

The Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau announced its 2024 award recipients at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau on Thursday, 14 March. The grand ceremony comes one week after the well-known authority on dining announced its recommendations for the Bib Gourmand distinctions, where seven new entrants from Hong Kong were added to the list.

This year’s starred restaurants once again showcase Hong Kong and Macau’s culinary greatness across a wide variety of cuisines. Following a set of evaluations, restaurants were judged by anonymous Michelin inspectors according to rigorous criteria that include quality of products, mastery of flavour, and cooking techniques.

Newly added one-star restaurants include Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic, Feuille, Mora, Racines, and The Legacy House in Hong Kong, as well as Chef Tam’s Seasons and Sushi Kinetsu in Macau. Meanwhile, Feuille has also earned the Michelin Green Star, which recognises restaurants offering the highest degree of sustainable gastronomy.

Scoring a promotion to a two-star rating are Noi in Hong Kong and The Huaiyang Garden in Macau. In 2024, there are no changes to the list of three-Michelin-starred restaurants, and 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Caprice, Forum, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Sushi Shikon, T’ang Court, and Ta Vie in Hong Kong, as well as Jade Dragon and Robuchon au Dôme in Macau, retained their three-star status of gastronomic excellence.

The Sommelier Award celebrates the extensive knowledge and passion sommeliers have towards spirits and pairings with food. Shinya Goshima of Godenya received this distinction for his expertise and dedication to the craft. The Service Award, recognising the exceptional hospitality skills of restaurant staff that helps to complete the overall Michelin-starred experience, goes to Lydia Yung of The Legacy House for 2024. Finally, the Young Chef Award, introduced in 2023 to celebrate rising talents in the culinary scene of Hong Kong and Macau, is awarded to Choi Ming-fai of Mora.
