This year's John Lewis Christmas advert has finally been released, which can only mean one thing – we've officially entered the party season!
Hurraaay! Famous for their heart-wrenching narratives and tear-inducing climaxes, the epic commercials have become a landmark in our annual calendar, spreading across social media like wildfire and prompting us to ask that all-important question:
"is this their best one yet?"

Well, we'll let you be the judge of that, but we will say one thing –
it's a little bit funny, this feeling inside. That's right, this year's advert features no other than legendary 'Rocket Man', Sir Elton John, and tells the story of him being gifted a piano as a young boy.
Titled
The Boy and The Piano, the clip works backwards chronologically through the star's musical career, ending with the pivotal moment when he received the special present of his grandmother’s piano that changed his life.
As the slogan "Some gifts are more than just a gift" fades onto the screen, over a reflective-looking present-day Sir Elton, we think we have the answer to that question. But before we get to that, just wait a minute ... is someone chopping onions?
Side note: For the first time in 70 years, John Lewis will be selling a range of pianos (as well as its usual keyboards), so you can give the gift of music to your loved ones this Christmas.
