The new year has arrived and like some of you, I have been in search for a new look. 2018 is looking busy for me with upcoming weddings to fly off to, office events to attend, and school parties with my kids lined up. I felt like I just needed a quick makeup solution for all these events - enter Xtreme Lashes®. I've never been that fussed about makeup, let alone thought about getting lash extensions done, but after some convincing from my friends and family, I decided to give it a go. I felt hesitant at first, but couldn't believe the results after my session!
Located on Wellington Street in Central, Xtreme Lashes® is easy to find. The spa is cosy, its sleek design is inviting, and the staff even serve you tea in the waiting area while the stylist prepares for your initial consultation.
It is their standard procedure to conduct a thorough consultation with all clients before each session, and so I spent some time with my stylist, finding out more details about their services and products to avoid any nightmare incidents that we've all read about on the internet. It was also an opportunity for the stylist to get to know me so she could design a customised lash look that would suit my overall look and lifestyle.
It was during this time that I found out how their products are of high quality and that they are true pioneers when it comes to technology in the beauty world. Not only do they use medical-grade adhesive that are odour-free, hypoallergenic, and are able to withstand the different changes in the weather and maintain their quality, but Xtreme Lashes® are also certified beauty suppliers who can even train other salons to offer the same services and distribute the same high quality products. I knew I was in good hands.
Ok, so first things first, I had to choose what kind of lashes I wanted and what kind of style or effect it would have. I wear glasses on a daily basis, so of course I didn't want anything too long or heavy. I also needed lash extensions that would not bother me when I needed to put my contact lenses on. And I wanted them to make my eyes really stand out as I usually spend time on my eye makeup more than anything else when I do dress up. The stylist also asked how often I work out as the longevity of the extensions also depends on your lifestyle and how active you are. If you're not much of a fitness maniac, the lashes will usually last around 4 to 6 weeks, but the good news is, even if you do workout intensively, they will still last a good 2 weeks due to their high standard adhesives that are formulated to withstand different weather and temperature changes.
Back to choosing what kind of lashes I wanted. Naturally, my eyelashes are considerably thick. I don't even have to use eyelash curlers so my stylist suggested that I use their more natural looking lashes, the Faux Mink X-Wrap Lashes. They are said to be 60 percent lighter than other faux lashes and I can tell you right now, I can't feel the weight of my extensions at all, yet they look full of volume.
After choosing my lashes, my stylist led me to the treatment room where the procedure meant that my eyes had to be kept closed for about an hour and a half. Good job that their bed was comfy and the stylist's expert skills meant that I hardly felt any pressure from her throughout the entire procedure. The application of Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions was painless, and the only thing I found discomforting was having to lie down for a prolonged period (but my stylist allowed me to stretch my legs when I felt like I needed it). I was in and out of sleep as well so honestly, it hardly felt like I was there for long.
The procedure is intricate and obviously needed someone with sturdy hands as the stylist locks the extension into place by wrapping it around your natural lashes using their safe and proprietary line of Xtreme Lashes® Adhesives. The extensions are never applied to your skin; only to your natural lashes.
I definitely woke up to longer, thicker, and voluminous lashes. They are perfect for this busy season of parties and reunions of sorts. Perfect for a low-maintenance woman like myself, and I didn't even have to wear eye makeup to the last few parties I attended!
The after care is the best part of this, I must say. Xtreme Lashes® makes it easy for you to take the best care of your extensions with their award-winning and nourishing cleanser, formulated to effectively cleanse eyes and face without affecting eyelash extensions. Using coconut derived cleansing agents, the aloe vera juice formula gently removes all traces of makeup and impurities.
All you need are cosmetic sponges! Spray them with Xtreme Lashes® Eye Makeup Remover & Facial Cleanser, and gently press the sponge onto your eyelash extensions, wiping downwards towards your cheek. Use the other side to cleanse your eyelids.
Some tips before going into your session...
- Make sure to take a shower already before coming in for your lash extensions as you won't be allowed to wet those lashes for a good 3 hours.
- On that note, make sure you've done your daily workout and that you won't be doing any strenuous activities after.
- I would go in the afternoon, the perfect time to get a nap as you will be in there with your eyes taped shut for almost two hours.
- Drink some water and use the loo before going in the treatment room!
- Wear something comfortable.
Don't just take it from me, though! Check out this Xtreme Lashes® video and hear testimonies from other women too. These lashes are as light as a feather!
