BREAKING: José Carreras’s farewell performance in Hong Kong cancelled

Fans who have been counting down the days to catch a final glimpse of the famed tenor are in for a huge disappointment. José Carreras, who is slated to perform in Hong Kong tomorrow night as part of his Global Farewell tour, has announced the last-minute cancellation of his sell-out November 19 show.

Almost 50 years into professional operatic singing, José Carreras, one of the legendary ‘Three Tenors’, is concluding his scintillating career with a Global Farewell tour. The November 19 performance at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was set to be especially emotional, as it would have been the final opportunity for José Carreras to say goodbye to his adoring fans in Hong Kong. The concert was one of the very last chances for music lovers to indulge in the divine and high-octane live vocal performances of the accomplished tenor. Carreras was to be accompanied by an orchestra of 50 musicians to present a truly international operatic gala, where the maestro would be joined by the brilliant young local soprano Alison Lau. In addition, Chiu Tsang Hei, the cream of homegrown musician, served as the orchestra music consultant for this show.
