Autumn is in the air! Now is the time to snuggle up with your loved ones and enjoy some quality time together. What better way to indulge in the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with the season (and love!) than immersing yourselves in a romantic, classical feat? Love birds and families, we have good news! The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is offering five lucky Localiiz readers a chance to win two tickets to Romeo and Juliet!
Celebrating the 425th anniversary of the famous Shakespearean play, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is offering visitors a grand showcase of three masterpieces to commemorate the creation of the greatest love story in Western literature.
For those of you thinking that the story of Romeo and Juliet is a little too sad for lovers to enjoy, we’re here to tell you that the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s curated list of performances adds a magical and musical touch to the tragic story! Beginning with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Fantasy-Overture, the emotional conflict between the Montagues and Capulets is reimagined with Bernstein’s West Side Story: Symphonic Dances. Finally, feast your eyes on the jaw-dropping performances of scenes from Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet by the Hong Kong Ballet.
Apart from a tribute to the classic romantic tragedy, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra also has a series of events lined up for the end of the year! The innovative crossover programme, Raining Petals—An Orchestral Re-Imagining, celebrates the sixty-fifth anniversary of the famous Cantonese opera, Floral Princess, with an exciting East-meets-West collaboration. Ushering in the New Year is Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s popular New Year concert, which invites 2023 with traditional Chinese celebratory music in a classic Vienna New Year’s concert style.
For a chance to win, simply answer one question: Name one of the composers whose work will be featured in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance on 28 and 29 October 2022 as part of the programme for Romeo and Juliet.
Our competition with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Ltd ends on 25 October 2022. Tickets are scheduled for the performance on Friday, 28 October, at 7.30 pm. Winners will be contacted via a confirmation email, which they must present to the Hong Kong Philharmonic reception counter when collecting the physical tickets.
