Has the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent travel bans had you scratching your insatiable wanderlust itch by exploring every far-flung corner of Hong Kong? If that’s not doing anything to placate your travel-starved soul, maybe this will: HK Express is preparing to launch a series of “flights to nowhere” in an attempt to introduce travellers back to the skies.
For better or worse, elevate your weekend and hop on a “flycation”—a 90-minute flight experience courtesy of HK Express. So far, there are three flights scheduled for three dates in November—each departing at 2.30 pm and landing back at Hong Kong International Airport at 4 pm. The journey will take travellers on an airborne sightseeing tour around Hong Kong, as well as offer fun activities on board. Each guest will also receive a goodie bag filled with items inspired by all the different destinations serviced by the airline as a take-home souvenir of your experience.
While details are scant and bookings are not yet available for interested travellers, what we do know is that this might be the new travel simulation activity on people’s to-do list, once the population tires of trying out all the hotel beds in Hong Kong. Would you hop on a flight to nowhere, or stay planted on solid ground? We’ll let you be the judge.
