We've all had those stressful moments at work, when we find ourselves on the brink of throwing our Macs out the window and sticking it to The Man. Well, nobody captures that feeling more effectively than talented film maker,
Francis So, in his brilliant new video,
Escape. The clip, which centres around an overworked employee who is reprimanded for falling behind on her endless workload, toys with the idea of jacking it all in and venturing into nature to restore the soul.

While the concept behind
Escape enables So to playfully showcase the stunning natural landscapes that Hong Kong has to offer, which he does through a series of beautifully shot time-lapse photography, it also conveys a serious message about the city's notorious workaholic culture.
"Hong Kong is famous for its long working hours among other countries and cities in the world", he tells
Localiiz. "No matter how fast and efficient you are in a company, you can seldom leave the office before sunset. Yet, some people are much worse than that, and end up bringing their unfinished tasks home with them. These endless duties threaten to turn people into workaholics, and there comes a time when you have to ask: is this the ideal life you were hoping for?"
So certainly has a point. With Hong Kong slipping down five rungs in the United Nations' annual
World Happiness Index earlier this year, (from 71st to 76th place, among 156 countries and regions around the world), the issue of work-life balance has never been more prevalent. So what message does he have for viewers?
"I wanted to create a video that reflects the seriousness of long working hours and the imbalanced city life of most Hong Kong people", So tells us. "I want to encourage people to give themselves a break and some time to reflect upon the road they have chosen, so they can consider if they need to choose another path. Spending some time with nature is an excellent way of doing this. It can help calm us down, relax our minds, and give us the breathing space we need."
And what if we discover we are on the wrong path? "Have the courage to take action and strive to create a happier life. Your future could be much brighter than what you have now – just remember, fortune favours the brave!"
So what do you think ... is it time to grab your jacket?
